April on the Farm

Spring is in full swing, which means it's our second busiest month on the farm - second only to clean up in the fall (October).

Daffodils and Tulips start blooming! It feels SO. GOOD. to finally have buckets of cut flowers again.

Starting heat-loving annual seeds - zinnias, sunflowers, cosmos, etc. - these will be planted out in may.

Getting dahlias o

rganized and orders shipped out! We had so much support from you all this season with our dahlia tuber sale - thank you! We sell the best tubers and keep the rest to plant in our field. this season we will be planting 240 dahlias!! It's going to be So. Beautiful. but that also means lots of planning so we know which variety goes where and everything gets labeled.

Planting out the last of the cool flowers - this is the end of the window to get cool season hardy annuals planted in the field since they like the cold when getting established before growing and blooming as the weather warms up naturally.

We also got the heat loving annual beds prepped (cultivated, covered, and irrigation lines down), and the rose garden cleaned up.

I told you april was busy ;) but it's all worth it in 2-3 months when the farm is legitimately in full bloom!

Until next time,
